My fellow yogis help me feel the nourishing power of community. Aquarius is the zodiac sign that inspires visions of a better and brighter future for all beings everywhere.

The full moon arrives on Friday, July 22 in the sign of Aquarius. It’s the first of two full moons in this sign, which hints that the energy of Aquarius is a force to pay attention to.

Aquarius de-centers the ego and is closely related to authenticity. It’s a fixed air sign and is the 11th of a total of twelve signs.

Everything starts within, and the air of Aquarius helps move your mind with agility. Personal shifts must manifest within before any outer transformation can occur.

Working with the moon cycles allows us to pause and check in with ourselves, which is always an opportunity to challenge beliefs, notice our habits, examine our relationship with ourselves and others. It’s hard work, but with practice , instead of dreading the journey, the practice can inspire a whole new, conscious path.

Since Aquarius is “fixed” it offers stability, and in the case of this sign, it encourages a heart grounded in community and a sense that you’re not alone with your human struggles.

I, for one, am here. Writing my blog and sitting with considerable tussles of the soul. You are not alone, I assure you.

Full moons occur when the sun and moon oppose each other in the sky. The moon (our unconscious mind) reflects the sun’s (our conscious mind) light back to the Earth, and they occupy opposite zodiac signs (in this case Leo and Aquarius).

You might notice tension between your will (Leo) versus the higher will (Aquarius). Let it be seen clearly, under the light of this potent full moon. And from that place of clarity, choose your path accordingly.

This full moon is an excellent opportunity to see what’s not working and make the deep commitment for transformation.

“Free your mind, and your body will follow” is the adage and the call of yoga sutra 1.2. Let this full moon gift you with an experience of knowing this Truth, so that you’ll have it forever in your treasure chest of tools.

The first and second lines in one of the prayers from the Taittiriya Upanishad says , “together may we be protected, together may we be nourished”.

This is also my full moon prayer for you.

Namaste
