Palm Tree Vriksasana: Teaching Yoga at Maui Yoga Path: October 13, 2021: Kihei, HI

I’m a tree hugger.

I’m a tree hugger.

While I take my yoga seriously, I endeavor not to take my practice to a place that is so stern that it takes the fun out of it. Life is hard enough without having to be hassled by the demon of a perfect pose. While I consider outside and oceanfront to be a perfect place for yoga, there are challenges, like uneven terrain, weather conditions, and passerby lookie-lous,

But yoga is about making the best of the here and now, as sutra 1.1 reminds us. And one of the best things about our location are magnificent palm trees. They make believable the importance of strong roots and foudations. And they sure do make a fun place to practice tree pose. We used them as a prop in our balance vriksasana play today.
